  • 9:00 - 9:45    Rethinking Hiring Practices for a New Generation of Applicants -  In this session, the participants will gain a better understanding of Millennials and Homelanders (Gen Z) and how we may need to change the way one thinks about this generation? We will further explore how we may need to reframe the way we interview this generation.  Lastly, we will answer the question; what do we do after we hire them?   • 12:15 - 1:00    If You Value Retention Then Retain Your Values -  School districts are like all other organizations, in that we are only as successful as the people in our organization.  Today we face the pressures of teacher shortages, competition for those teachers, school choice, increasing salaries, and in many cases declining student population, which means declining revenue. This session will provide an understanding of the importance of developing “Foundation Principles” that create a culture where teachers feel connected, valued, supported and informed. - Gary Williams

  • 1:45 - 2:30     Lafayette County High School:  Meeting the Challenge of Recruitment and Retention by “Growing Their Own” through the Teacher Cadet Program -  Hear from students and staff of Lafayette County High School and SAU Department of Education about their successful Teacher Cadet program and the importance of introducing students, while in high school, to the teaching profession. - Teacher Cadet Program Lafayette County High School 
  • 2:30 - 3:15     Learn About a New Planning Tool that Provides a Process for Human Resource and Human Capital Improvement Planning Unique to Each School District -  We will share a planning tool that provides a process for Human Resource /Human Capital Improvement Planning, focused on the unique needs of each district, including tools that support the strategic planning process. Districts will be able to use this process to set goals and strategies as they embark on the planning process. - Mike Hernandez, Ed.D.
