CASBO Certification Classes

University of Central Arkansas

Brewer-Hegeman Conference Center

October 29-30, 2025


The Arkansas Association of School Business Officials (AASBO) has scheduled six sessions of certification classes for October 29-30, 2025 at the Brewer-Hegeman Conference Center on the Campus of UCA in Conway. These classes will provide three of the required courses for CASBO Certification and three electives as required for recertification.

School Annual Financial Reporting and Budgets is a basic course designed to provide educators, administrators, and finance professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively manage financial reporting processes and budgeting activities within educational institutions. This course explores the principles, practices, and regulations governing the preparation, analysis, and presentation of annual financial reports and budgets in compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. Participants will gain practical insights into financial management strategies, budget development techniques, and reporting best practices essential for ensuring fiscal accountability, transparency, and sustainability in school districts.

This course will provide participants with basic account coding requirements along with best practices and other considerations that should be evaluated when setting up budget unit coding in eFinance.

This course is designed for school business officials who are looking to build upon a foundational understanding of Medicaid operations within

the school setting. Participants will explore the essential processes and requirements for providing Medicaid billable services to students. The course will cover the basics of Medicaid eligibility, documentation, billing procedures, compliance standards, and the financial implications of Medicaid reimbursements for school districts.

Participants will delve into the complexities of funding, budgeting, & financial management for special education programs. The course will cover key topics such as federal and state funding sources, including IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) grants, cost allocation, compliance with financial regulations (including MOE), and strategies for maximizing resources while meeting the diverse needs of students with disabilities.

CPE Credit for CPAs available!


CASBO classes that qualify for CPE credit in the following fields of study:

  • FP102 - Annual Financial Reporting and Budgets

  • SF104 - School Account Coding

  • SF105E - Federal Funds Finance

  • SF221 - Special Education Finance

  • SF403 - Updates in School Finance Law


The following conditions must be met as well:

  • You must sign in & sign out and complete other paperwork on-site

  • You will receive a certificate of completion within a week of the classes via email.
